The Commission on Ecumenical Affairs:

1. Shall function in accordance with the prescriptions and guidelines of the Church as provided for in the Code of Canon Law and the “Directory for the Application of Principles and Norms of Ecumenism” for the promotion of the Ecumenical Movement in the Church in the Philippines, in the national, regional and local levels.

2. Shall assist the Bishop Members of the Conference in the establishment of diocesan Ecumenical Commissions or their equivalent, and encourage working cooperation among them.

3. Shall prepare the ecumenical rites for national, regional and local levels upon request by the Conference or the Members thereof, in collaboration with the Commission on Liturgy.

4. Shall maintain communication with the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and with the Office of Ecumenical and Inter-Religious Affairs of the Federation of the Asian Bishops’ Conferences, keeping the Member Bishops of the Conference adequately informed of relevant concerns emanating there from.

5. Shall keep the Members of the Conference duly informed about the developments of ecumenical activities and dialogues taking place in the national, regional and local levels of the Church in the Philippines, advising the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity thereof.

6. Shall foster dialogue with leaders of Christian Churches and ecumenical bodies such as the National Council of Churches, the Christian Conference of Asia, and the World Council of Churches, representing the Conference in these ecumenical associations when authorized by the former to do so.

7. Shall appoint and authorize Experts in ecumenism who, in official representation of the Conference, will participate in dialogues and consultations with the Experts of various Christian Churches and ecumenical associations.
